At the time when the report of the Commission De Wit about the financial crisis was published and the DSB bank toppled, the enthusiastic Prof. Dr. Arnoud Boot, professor of Corporate Finance and Financial Markets, is followed during his work. His driver brings him from SER meeting to lecture hall to TV or radio programme. Or from and to Schiphol Airport. This is the moment he can influence the economic policy. Because sadly people often only listen when the damage has been done. For example, as early as the 1990s, he pointed out the dangers of usury policies. The problem is that you can predict what is going to happen, but not when. A recurring subject is that he always had bad grades as a child. When he was eleven, people even strongly dissuaded him from a scientific career. Sill, this contrariness comes in useful now. It is crucial in science that you dare to look at reality in alternative ways. Part of a series of portraits of prominent Dutch scientists.
