Elementary school turns out to be an absurdist mini-universe with its own rules and laws: from a justified treats policy and waving dates to ten-minute parent-teacher talks and complex play dates. Strange teachers and the overpowering 'parents Mafia' make it quite hard for the recently divorced Hannah to keep her footing amidst the schoolyard chaos.
