THE YEARS FILMSTILL2.png

De jaren waarin ik niet film

Director: Froukje van Wengerden
Cinematographic essay about the chaotic experience of time. The filmmaker longingly recalls her native soil and things past, while motherhood completely turns her life and perception of time upside down.
For her fourteenth anniversary, Froukje van Wengerden receives a camera with a black-and-white roll. Fifteen years later, she finds back the prints at the house she grew up in and she sees the pastures from her childhood, the landscape she so dearly misses. When she becomes a mother, she is poised between bliss and exhaustion and days and nights become one. Time turns out to be a relative notion. The days last forever, the months fly past. Wandering through the same pastures, now with her offspring, she realises that even when you will never be alone again, you can still feel lonely.
