Microscopic examination of manipulation and how relationships originate within imbalanced power relations, which are put on edge while creating a play. This is also caused by the private histories of the people involved.
At the request of filmmaker Judith de Leeuw, Ruut Weissman, a prominent dramatist and former drama teacher and stage director, directs a solo performance about the balance of power between a teacher and a student; a director and an actress. In the performance, Harriët Stroet plays a woman who is lured into a relationship that is harmful to her. The documentary shows how the mutual relationships among the people involved are put on edge during rehearsals, and how the events on stage and beyond get mixed up. A film about directing, manipulating, creating, hurting and being hurt.
