Portrait of the Russian poet Osip Mandelstam (1891-1938) through his poems, archive footage and an interview with his widow Nadezhda Mandelstam. Frank Diamand managed to film her in Moscow in 1973 and promised her he would not show the footage before her decease, to avoid getting her into trouble with the authorities. She talks about the atrocities of Stalinism, but also about the deep affection she felt for her husband.
