Documentary portrait of three referees from Dutch amateur soccer. After numerous incidents, their position on the pitch has made them realise that respect is a fragile commodity nowadays.

Every week, Badr, David and Jan-Willem are on the pitch as referees in amateur soccer. Their mainspring: love of the game. But after numerous incidents, this weekly moment of responsibility and authority has made them realise that respect is a fragile commodity. Especially in the Netherlands today, where everybody pursues his own interests and every authority is suspicious. How do you control things with 22 articulate referees on the pitch and scores of experts on the sideline?
