Feature that won at Cannes in which singer Björk plays a Czech immigrant who lives in the American countryside with her little son Gene. Selma is a factory worker who does nightshifts to pay for treatment for her son's hereditary eye disease. During her monotonous work, she dreams off into the world of music and dance like that in classic Hollywood musicals. When her neighbour steals her savings, the expected happy ending suddenly becomes very uncertain.
