No partner, kids or private life for Ella (Kim van Kooten), because she runs the best maternity ward in the Netherlands. When the hospital director brushes the problems aside, amidst all the hope and joy, conflicts are unavoidable in this series.
A cutting-edge city hospital forms the backdrop for medical and human drama, because the pressure is immense, working conditions are tough and staff shortage is glaring. This is the terrain of the dedicated Ella (Kim van Kooten), who has to work wonders time and again with her team of obstetricians. When you work such long hours, the already thin line between your private and professional life inevitably becomes blurred and conflicts are unavoidable. Besides playing the leading role, Kim van Kooten also adapted the script from the Danish series Dag og Nat by Lone Scherfig.
