Dad Said

Director: Livia May
When young Freya really wants to climb a playground climbing frame, her father says no. A rejection that cuts deep, in this animation, and one she only overcomes once she learns that his words are just that: his words, not her worth.
Freya adores her father, even though he doesn't give her the same amount of love in return. Freya loves climbing, for instance, but her father wants nothing to do with it. In this colourful graduation animation, his disapproval weighs so heavily on Freya that she carries his negativity with her long after. Only by learning to see it as nothing more than his words is Freya able to accept herself for who she is, and leave her father and his opinion behind.
