In Crossroads filmmakers Molenaar and Van Wijk return to the same area of Africa where they shot their award-winning documentary Isingiro Hospital in 1992. Since then, much has changed in this border region between Rwanda and Burundi. As a consequence of the bloody struggle between Hutus and Tutsis, the country has been flooded with refugees who wander the land aimlessly, with aid workers in their wake. But since 1992 other things have changed too: roads have been laid and tap water and electricity have come. Crossroads portrays several of the original inhabitants of this area and we also see some of the people from Isingiro Hospital again.
