Effervescent duet of animation and real dancers, in a modern fairy tale about young love, perfect beauty and plastic surgery.
The young love between Zwaantje and Frans is compromised by the gorgeous Coppelia. This robot-woman is the creation of Dr. Coppelius, a plastic surgeon seducing the villagers with the illusion of perfect beauty. Frans, too, is mesmerised by Coppelia. But Zwaantje finds out that the sly Coppelius is driven by the desire to steal the villagers’ unique characteristics. This modern fairy tale is an adaptation of the eponymous comic classical ballet and pairs animation with live-action dance. Featuring stars from the Nationale Ballet like Igone de Jongh and Michaela DePrince.
