Why does Blackness feel so different for everyone? In this short documentary, the filmmaker explores how she and her friends each navigate their skin colour in individual ways.
‘On a scale of 1 to 10, how Black do you feel?’ The bicultural Sohna doesn’t have an easy answer. To understand what being Black means to her, she follows two friends who each see it in their own way. Alice Ann draws strength and pride from her Blackness, while Sarah barely thinks about her skin colour at all. Sohna realises she’s constantly going back and forth between their worlds, but doesn’t fully belong in either. What can she learn from her friends? A warm, intimate and hopeful graduation film that embraces and celebrates the richness and complexity of young people of colour.
