Class Outside

Director: Aylin Kuryel, Deniz Buga, Fırat Yücel
During the pro-Palestinian university strikes, three filmmakers began a collective video diary, capturing everyday moments of resistance, solidarity and confrontation. In doing so, they capture the landscape of paving stones, slogans and dreams that characterised this period.
In 2024, Amsterdam was one of many cities where people mobilised against the systematic destruction of Palestinian lives and infrastructure. In protest against the ongoing genocide in Gaza, students and staff organised encampments, discussion sessions and demonstrations, calling on the University of Amsterdam and other institutions to sever ties with Israeli organisations. Several filmmakers decided to document these activities as a collective video diary. Their film includes footage of police violence and confrontations, but also captures the idealism and dreams of the protesters.
