Life in an Algerian village by the end of the war of independence, seen through the eyes of young Bachir. His friendship with a French soldier complicates matters.

A village in Algeria, towards the end of the French-Algerian war of independence. The war itself rages beyond the mountains, but it does affect life in the village. The bright, naive young Bachir dreams that his father, whom he hasn’t seen for some time, is a freedom fighter. He heard that as a martyr’s son he will be privileged, but his friendship with a French soldier complicates matters. For this story about the search for identity, Traïdia was inspired by his Algerian childhood.
