Children of the Cult

Director: Maroesja Perizonius, Alice McShane
In this documentary, which was eligible to win a BAFTA, children who grew up in Bhagwan’s Osho sect share their poignant experiences. They bring to light a pattern of abuse and exploitation and confront people who were responsible for this.

The abuses involving guru Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh – currently known as Osho – were previously the subject of the Netflix series Wild Wild Country. Still, the truth about the organisation behind him so far remained hidden. The Dutch filmmaker Maroesja Perizonius, herself a commune child, visits other commune children and looks for answers in this revealing documentary. How can Osho build a completely new society with its own culture, where terrible crimes against children are facilitated and normalised? In the course of her investigation, Perizonius exposes offenders and asks high-ranking officials for answers.

This film is English spoken and will be screened without subtitles.
