August 1914. While Jean Lemarin is away winning the World Wrestling Cham­pi­onships in Buenos Aires, his daughter is raped by German soldiers at home in Ostend. The Belgian grap­pler swears revenge and with his coach and young nephew, he enrols in a pres­ti­gious corps that moves to the Eastern front in their armoured cars. Author’s film in anima­tion form, in which the protag­o­nist unin­ten­tion­ally ends up in a dramatic odyssey around the world. In a sober anima­tion style and in mini­mal­istic but essen­tial scenes, Jean’s romantic 19th-century world­view irrev­o­cably collapses.
