South-Africa, 1963. One man is prepared to sacrifice his life for the freedom of his people: Nelson Mandela. But is lawyer Bram Fischer in his turn prepared to sacrifice his life for Mandela's freedom?
One winter’s day in July 1963, South-African police arrest several leaders of the banned anti-apartheid movement ANC. Nelson Mandela, played for the first time by a South-African actor, had been apprehended earlier on. Respected lawyer Bram Fischer tries to prevent imposition of the death penalty. Moral dilemmas and growing doubt about non-violent resistance in a historical drama, depicted with a profound sense of authenticity.
