Documentary about the Amsterdam swimming pool Marnixbad.
Bovenbad (The Pool) is set within the four walls of the upper floor of the Marnix swimming baths in Amsterdam. There the makers follow the swimming lessons, movement exercises and the free swimming of various groups of Amsterdammers; pregnant women, parents with babies, school children, immigrant women and the aged. The film shows how in every phase of life people struggle to keeps their heads above water. And also how swimming is a social event for young and old.
