For paramedic Louis, the city is a burial ground in this poignant short documentary. With his ambulance, he was often the first to arrive at the scene and the last person to hold the hands of many a wretched soul. What remains are the indelible memories.
Alternating with the blue ambulance light and the roaming camera creating a poetic canvass for our imagination, former paramedic Louis directly addresses the viewer in this documentary. Telling us how various sites where he rendered assistance are forever connected to his memories. Over here, the construction worker lay who kept calling for his mother. Over there, the boy that was hit head-on by a city bus. And over there, in the channel, the drowned girl with the braids. After 23 years on the ambulance, their faces and situations are etched in his memory. Is it really normal for one human being to witness so much suffering?
