Inspired by the tarantella, a dance named after the tarantula. The film was awarded a Golden Calf in 1995 for the best short film.
For this dance film, filmmaker Van Gool and choreographer Oei were inspired by the South Italian tarantella dance, named after the tarantula, a deadly wolf spider. Against the backdrop of an Italian villa in Renaissance style and the chaotic street sounds of Palermo, the film shows how the bitten dancers are caught unawares by a cutting pain and an uncontrollable impulse to dance. Awarded a Golden Calf in 1995.
