This poetical coming-of-age film creates fiction from found footage. Two girls grow up together along a fictional European border. What happens when one day fences appear, separating their worlds?
In the voice-over, a woman reads a letter, addressed to her childhood friend. This poetical film, compiled from thousands of hours of found footage– mainly 8mm footage from the 1960s and 1970s – tells the story of two adolescent girls from a fictional border region somewhere in Europe. When fences appear, creating a world of ‘them’ and ‘us’, the lives of the two friends gradually get separated. How would their lives have progressed without this external division?
