Bijt

Director: Guido Coppis
Thirty-something Mark suffers from an intense form of self-hatred. This translates into neglect and destructive behaviour. When he meets Lisa, the two develop an affectionate but bizarre bond.
Bijt is the first feature-length film by self-taught filmmaker Guido Coppis, in which he presents us with a bleak future. Society is stuck in its ways and people look at each other with suspicion. In the case of reticent Mark (Reinout Scholten van Aschat), this manifests itself in seclusion, intense self-hatred and aggressive behaviour. Even when he plays the trumpet, it sounds forlorn and gloomy. By the deathbed of Mark’s granddad (Johan Leysen), he meets Lisa (Frieda Barnhard). This sparks an affectionate, but bizarre relationship that gradually gets out of control.
