A young man’s mythical expedition in search of himself and a rock that fell from the sky. Redemption is only found on the verge of insanity. Adapted from W. F. Hermans’ novel Nooit meer slapen.
Searching for meteorites, the young geologist Alfred starts an ambitious yet ever more futile expedition across the north of Norway. Director Boudewijn Koole gives Willem Frederik Hermans’ famous novel Nooit meer slapen a rigorous twist by making the physical ordeals, Alfred’s distrust of his team members and his loneliness amidst the indifferent landscape tangible. For the young man, his voyage turns into a struggle with his father complex and with his attempts to prove himself. Immersive cinema and philosophical reflection at once.
