Shortly after her partner has passed away, artist Petra Noordkamp has a residency in Tokyo. In the claustrophobic house allotted to her, her grief and fear of earthquakes are fanned. How can she cast off these feelings?
It is a combination of things, which makes visual artist Petra Noordkamp feel uprooted during her residency in Tokyo. Her partner died recently and her grief still feels very acute. To make things worse, there is an immense construction site right next to her temporary residence. The small, traditional storehouse that Noordkamp occupies shakes and groans, fuelling her fear of earthquakes. In this documentary, originally conceived as a video installation, we see how Noordkamp casts off these feelings and starts looking for inner peace in Japanese tea houses and zen gardens.
