Beneath the Baobab Tree

Director: Gora Mboup
Plagued by nightmares, pregnant May seeks out her estranged father. There, she uncovers a dark family curse. Can she break it? A short horror film about transgenerational trauma.
Pregnant May is haunted by disturbing visions of her unborn child. She doesn’t know why, but feels compelled to seek out her estranged father, Emmanuel. In the home of this spiritual guide, she uncovers traces of the trauma that shaped him. In this graduation film and short horror, her search for connection turns out to be a confrontation with a painful past. Will she break the curse, or pass it on? And will she and her father ever truly reconnect, now that a (grand)child is on the way?
