Feature film début by director Rudolf van den Berg, based on Leon de Winter's novel La Place de la Bastille. A forty-year-old history teacher is captivated by an unknown man he coincidentally photographed on the street. He thinks the man resembles his twin brother, who disappeared during the war, and starts a search for the stranger and his own (Jewish) past. Awarded a Golden Calf for Best Direction in 1984.
