Double portrait of the violinists Vera Beths (44) and Olga Rudge (96). The film sketches the career of the two woman: the more recent fame of Vera Beths is juxtaposed with the breakthrough of Olga Rudge in the twenties and thirties. Vera Beths and pianist Reinbert de Leeuw travel to the Italian Dolomites to offer Olga Rudge a private performance of the violin sonata which George Antheil wrote for her. Despite their very different backrounds, the two women concur in their musical preferences: George Antheil and the ancient Italian master Antonio Vivali.
