Documentary portrays three men each in a different stage of alcoholism.
In Bacchus, three men are portrayed each in a different stage of alcoholism. They are also friends against the odds and this provides several humorous situations. For instance, Harry would love to be the pivot. He patronizes Ron by telling him to take vitamin pills every day, so that his excessive alcohol consumption will cause less damage, but is a lot less strict with himself. After recovering from gastric bleeding, Joop also returns to the bench with his friends. But now he only drinks alcohol-free beer. The film wants to make it clear that there are various forms of alcohol use and abuse. Bacchus also reflects on the causes of alcoholism for the three protagonists.
