How do animals experience the fireworks on New Year’s Eve? This immersive documentary shows almost literally through a dog’s eyes what it is like to be an animal at the turn of the year.
In the Netherlands, at the end of the year, millions worth of fireworks go up in the air. Many people enjoy this, but for animals New Year’s Eve is a full-blown nightmare. In this documentary, the impact of the cracking fireworks is shown in special ways: for example with the help of infrared images and a GoPro camera, attached to the necks of various dogs before the end-of-year celebrations. The film follows their movements from the first cautious bangs in the daytime to the deafening spectacle after midnight. What are the effects on dogs and other animals?
