Anatopia is an unusual co-production of six film-makers, specialised in different disciplines of film. Martijn Gerfin, Eugenie Jansen, Bert Oosterveld, Herbert Schwering, Mark Wessner and initiator Otto Schuurman moved to the now-empty mud-hut village Anatopia in East Friesland in Germany. The extensive fenland has to make way for a test track for cars, military vehicles and trucks. The local inhabitants are pleased with the arrival of Mercedes-Benz, but the people of Anatopia, campaigners and environmental activists from the area protested with the construction of the village against the destruction of a large nature reserve.
