Prevention is better than cure, also when it concerns our mental well-being. In the West, we increasingly turn to data collections on mental health. But, this documentary wonders, will this quest make us happier?
To optimise our well-being, we in the Western world increasingly collect loads of data on our mental health. But what exactly do you measure? And can you prevent mental problems? This documentary observes, in the Netherlands, Norway and the US, various stages of prevention: from 'early interventions' in primary school children to avoid anxiety at a later age to someone who tries to avert a new psychosis. In Florida, people are building a world without friction, to make everyone as perfect and as happy as possible. But will we indeed become happier if there is no friction, insecurity and imperfection at all? And what is lost in this quest for our perfect self?
