NFF Fellows: Nirit Peled

Peled’s practice moves between documentary filmmaking, investigative journalism and art. While her work begins with research into real technological developments, she increasingly uses speculation to explore their less tangible consequences. During the development of Green Clouds, these questions became personal when Peled became seriously ill. From the hospital, technology appeared not only as an ecological problem, but also as a source of hope: AI and expanding computational power promise new possibilities for diagnosis, treatment and longer life.

Green Clouds is a visual essay that explores what lies behind our desire to preserve: our memories, our data, and ultimately ourselves. Blending documentary research with fiction, the essay leaves open a central question: what do we gain by preserving everything, and what do we lose when we can no longer forget?
