Film shot during World War Two in Amsterdam's Cinetone Studios, amongst others, about the life of Rembrandt, stressing the master's greatness - despite his humble origins. His relationship with the various women in his life was also sketched at length. In dealing with his financial problems, antisemitic tendencies are clearly visible.
