Uma Thurman and Julliette Lewis as the two friends Debbie and Beth who are looking for a man. While they employ all their charms in a pub, Debbie's mother seems to have more luck.
Unlike Nair's previous feature films, Hysterical Blindness is set in a white working-class environment, in an American town in the late eighties. Actresses Uma Thurman and Julliette Lewis play Debbie and her friend Beth. They are nearing thirty and are desperately looking for a man. They hope to find one in their favourite bar, where they regularly send out their signals, spruced up with hairspray and a lot of make-up and wearing low-necked dresses. While the young women are grappling with love, Debbie's mother seems to have more luck with a new man.
