Tuesday afternoon, August 26, 15:00 - 17:00
Drinks: 17:00 - 18:00
Eye Filmmuseum (IJpromenade 1, Amsterdam)
The Netherlands has an enormous wealth of makers who work outside the established paths and make experimental, immersive and expanded work. But what does it mean today to be a maker of Expanded Cinema? How and where do we screen this work, which is often screened outside the regular circuit of film theaters? And how do we build a community of groundbreaking makers together? It is time to make this network visible and strengthen it further.
Programmer, journalist and curator Hugo Emmerzael talks to Expanded Cinema's makers about both the making and the screening process. Some of their works will also be screened. We encourage an interactive conversation between the speakers and the audience, to discuss together the current status of Expanded Cinema and next steps. Afterwards, we will host a drinks reception to continue the conversation.
Come join us to discuss, watch and connect. We hope to see a room full of makers who want to grow this community and build together on the visibility and future of Expanded Cinema in the Netherlands.
This NFF Extended is organized in collaboration with Dutch Academy For Film (DAFF), Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, the Eye Filmmuseum.
