This interactive installation by Belgian artist Dries Depoorter and Dutch filmmaker Douwe Dijkstra is the first fruit of their joint research into the role of the media in our society.
Long Faces consists of a photo booth where you can have portraits made of you and your friends. Apart from hard euros, your facial expression is the currency. The pictures taken are incorporated into a simultaneous video work, which is a real-time combination of the reality of the photo booth and the online social media world. Thus providing comical or ironical comment to the various on- and off-line realities intermixed in our daily lives. Go against all social media conventions and show your sad look. Only then you can have your picture printed or become part of the Long Faces social media platform on www.longfaces.club.
This project is part of the free NFF Interactive Expo in IMPAKT. You can visit the NFF Interactive Expo from Friday 28 September to Thursday 4 September from 12:00 to 20:00, at two locations: Academiegalerie and IMPAKT.
