When Sef wants to fight against a flag he does not stand behind, it takes more than he thought. Will we ever really get rid of such ghosts or dominant structures, or will we have to learn to live with them?
Most flags and ideologies are, besides on all sorts of great ideals, founded on exclusion, oppression and the restriction of expression. Geographically, ideologically and religiously, these dominant constructs do not work in the best interest of large groups of people. InVlag,the focus is on the fight Sef wages against a ghost in the tricolour of a fictitious flag. The ghost does not really exist, but we use ghosts and ideas to keep people afraid and control them. Sef cannot and will not stand behind a flag anymore that is tainted with blood and excludes people. The film wants to be a hopeful cry for system change, where acknowledgement is the first step towards a better world – for everyone.
