Bleak Delfzijl is the backdrop against which the lives of three separated yet connected people run their courses. Reinder works in the port and is, against his will, divorced from Inge. Both are individually introduced to the refugee Izzat, who wants to earn some money to return to the daughter he left behind in Syria. The attractive, subdued images not only tell the story of three people trying to escape their lives and past, but also draw a melancholy portrait of a dreary seaport.
