Annually, the Dutch produce huge piles of garbage. This documentary follows the track of the efficient cleaners who in daily life seem to operate almost invisibly. An unexpected sight, while the trash producers prefer to look away.
Day and night, we produce untold amounts of garbage in the Netherlands; from our cans, leftovers, plastic packaging and other household refuse to office waste and full trashcans in airplanes and trains. The garbage is collected, swept, cleaned, removed and destroyed very quickly and efficiently by an army of cleaners. When they have passed, our world looks like new again: clean and orderly. This documentary follows the cleaners in their tracks and reveals a reality in the Netherlands that we usually prefer to turn a blind eye to.
