Guido van der Werve is a singular artist with at least as singular a story to tell. After a serious car accident, his inferiority complex apparently saves his life. A poetic self-analysis, as well as a tribute to all mavericks.
As a child, Guido van der Werve was always told he was abnormal, which was why he started overcompensating, he claims. Today, he is a video and performance artist, composer, top-ranking chess player and ultramarathon runner, and reaps worldwide successes with video artworks seeking the confrontation with life. His personal life comes to an abrupt standstill in 2016. A serious traffic accident results in a coma that lasts for weeks and in traumatic brain damage. Owing to his extraordinary physical and mental condition he recovers, miracle of miracles. One thing is for sure: If he had been a little more like all other people, he would not have made it. This self-examination and tribute to mavericks is yet another singular and poetic film project by Van der Werve.
