From various standpoints, the camera follows the hands and facial expressions of deaf poet Wim Emmerik, who recites his poem Groei (Growth) in Dutch sign language. The poet tells about the similarities between the development of a human being and the development of the four seasons. In the twilight, the poet's breath also contributes to the visualisation of this film poem.
