NFF Filmpolitieke Bijeenkomst

During the annual Film Policy Meeting (Filmpolitieke Bijeenkomst), representatives from the sector, policymakers and politicians discuss current developments in the Dutch film and audiovisual sector. How do we ensure appealing fiction, documentary, animation and innovative productions that reflect, challenge and engage our society at festivals, in cinemas, on demand and on television? What conditions are necessary for this?
This year, one theme takes centre stage: broadening the financing options for productions. How can we create a level playing field with the countries around us? What is needed to make production budgets sufficient, so that quality, visibility, fair pay and a fair chain are the norm? What obstacles stand in the way of stronger public-private partnerships? And what insights should not be missing from the promised sector-wide research into market developments in the Dutch audiovisual industry?

With presentations by James Hickey (Independent consultant on European audiovisual production policy, General Counsel of the European Producers Club, former CEO of Screen Ireland) and Claus Ladegaard (Independent consultant on the film and television industry, former CEO of the Danish Film Institute).

The meeting will be moderated by Ruurd Bierman (chairman of the Supervisory Board of the NFF until 1 September). Speakers include: Hilde De Laere (producer at FBO productions (BE) of, among others, the feature film Zillion, the series How To Kill Your Sister and co-producer of the series Máxima), Koji Nelissen (producer at Keplerfilm, including this year's opening film Voor de Meisjes by Mike van Diem), Jasmijn Touw (director of Global Affairs at Netflix), George van Breemen (business director-administrator at the Netherlands Film Fund), Willemien van Aalst (director-administrator at HUMAN), and Youssef Louakili (director of Media and Creative Industry at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science). Members of Parliament Laurens Dassen (party leader VOLT) and Mohammed Mohandis (Groenlinks-PvdA, spokesperson for culture, media and sport) will also take part in the discussion.

This is an invitation-only programme. Read more about the speakers here.
