NFF Extended: Expanded Cinema

The Netherlands has an enormous wealth of makers working outside the established paths, making experimental, immersive and expanded work. But what does it mean this day and age to be a maker of Expanded Cinema? How and where do we screen their work, which is often screened outside the regular circuit of film theatres? And how do we build a community of boundary-pushing makers together? It's time to make this network visible and strengthen it even further.
We are going to talk to Expanded Cinema creators Jefta Varwijk, Bram Ruiter and Esther Urlus about both the making and screening process. Some of their works will also be screened. We encourage an interactive conversation between the speakers and the audience, to discuss together the current status of Expanded Cinema and next steps. Afterwards, we will organise a drinks reception to discuss further.

Come discuss, watch and connect with us. We hope for a room full of makers who want to grow this community together and build the visibility and future of Expanded Cinema in the Netherlands.

This NFF Extended is organised in collaboration with Dutch Academy For Film (DAFF), Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, the Eye Filmmuseum.

Please note that this is an invitation-only programme. Are you a maker and interested in attending the programme? If so, please send an email to [email protected].
