Against the water-colour background of a busy city, the characters come to life in this short film about a pair of self-willed magic shoes. A lazy cobbler, a clever little girl, a respectable lady, a runner, a harlot and a queen. Coltof makes grotesque caricatures: the inebriated shoe repair man bulges from his pants on all sides, the runner is a tall broomstick and the queen is nothing more than an enormous ermine coat topped by a crown.
