Documentary about six women who played in the popular Dutch women's orchestras of the thirties and forties. These `Ladies of Music' played in notable venues, giving the crisis years musical panache. Incorporating archive footage and interviews, introducing Rita Dalvano (violin), Annie van 't Zelfde (piano & saxophone) and others, the film tells about their lives, the music, the friendships and the war that virtually wiped out this musical subculture.
