Film adaptation of the book by William Styron about the Polish woman Sophie who survives Auschwitz and has to try and master her feelings of guilt as an immigrant in New York City. Flashbacks filmed in shades of grey make it clear that she had to make an impossible choice in Auschwitz. Meryl Streep won an Oscar for her role.
