Rembrandt's Night Watch was severely damaged by a museum visitor in 1975. Restoration took eight months. The documentary follows the restoration process - from sewing up the tears, putting on an extra layer of linen, removing the old layer of varnish and finally repainting the canvas - and its reappearance in public.
