Drama based on the eventful life of the Austrian emperor's daughter Marie Antoinette. The film shows a Marie Antoinette who, oppressed by her tyrannical father, grows up to be a moody and rebellious woman. Her passionate nature and noble position maker her a public figure and a perfect victim for gossip and adversity. At the low point in her life, after the tragic loss of her dog, her son and her lover, she finally has to stand trial for the murder of her husband. Four different Marie Antoinettes appear in court each taking on her own defence. Their plea starts with `L'histoire, c'est moi' and continues with an ode to love.
