With a MR scanner you can look at a human body from the inside without having to cut it open. Patients are slid into a scanner like rolls into a tin. They don't feel anything, but do have to put up with a deafening din. With the aid of a magnetic field, pictures can be taken from all sides and they can help a radiologist to reach lots of conclusions.
