The skies above the Beemster and Terschelling display a rare range of hues. Between 2000 and 2005, Lameer captured these northern lights, also called polar lights or aurora borealis - the effect of heavy geomagnetic storms. He uses an 'ordinary' camera, but also various techniques and cinematographic aids. As far as is known, these are the only images in colour of the northern lights ever made outside the polar region.
